Our Facilities
Black Rock Pre-School is privileged to be located in the heart of our community at 55 Bluff Road, just a short stroll from Black Rock Village and our beautiful foreshore and beach area. We lease the kindergarten building and grounds from Bayside City Council. The building was designed in the mid-century era when open-plan living was being fully embraced to encourage the easy flow of people and conversation. The building is well-orientated and features expansive windows, low-pitched gable roofs and weatherboards to create a visually pleasing and welcoming environment for the pre-school children.
In 2023, we rejuvenated our play space through a Building Blocks Grant. We now have an outdoor, multi-sensory nature discovery play space for the children that is diverse, inclusive and designed to reflect natural habitat. Our play space promotes self-directed, immersive and stimulating nature play through zones that encourage physical movement, sensory play, social interaction and solace. A key feature of the new environment is a meandering pathway around the edge of the play area to ensure those with restricted mobility can access all features of the play space. This new feature has also enabled the inclusion of our traffic school program as a core feature of our program from 2024. Other features of our outdoor space include raised vegetable garden planters and worm farm; these encourage environmental awareness including sustainability, biodiversity and ecosystems.
We love that we can offer the children of Black Rock an environment that is physically and cognitively challenging to enable them to build their confidence and resilience.
