Black Rock Pre-School is a community kindergarten and we are part of the
Bayside City Council Central Registration & Enrolment Service (CRES).
We welcome our community of current and future families to visit us on site to see what Black Rock Pre-School is all about.
The Registration and Enrolment Process
Each year, Bayside City Council (BCC) manages the central registration process for community kindergartens in the Bayside area, such as Black Rock Pre-School. In order to secure a place with us, you will need to first apply online through Bayside City Council’s website.
We encourage all families, wishing to join the Black Rock Pre-School (BRPS) next year, to submit your CRES registration form between 1st May and 30th June to have your application processed in the first round of offers. However, kindergarten registration is open all year round for those who miss out the May/June registration period.
You will then receive an Offer from Council for your child to attend BRPS. Once you accept this offer, we will send you an email with the Group Allocation form. We then allocate the child to a group following our policies and procedures. After allocation, you will receive another email which contains a group confirmation and the enrolment form.
Your child is not enrolled at BRPS until the enrolment form is submitted and verified.

Age Requirements and Kindergarten Readiness
Setting up your child for success. Starting kindergarten is more than just an age calculation. Please review the information provided by the Bayside City Council about kinder readiness. Is your child ready for kindergarten?
Children enrolling for a 3-year-old program must turn 3 by the 30 April of the year they attend. Due to staff to child ratio regulations based on age, children must be three years of age before commencing the program. For example, if your child turns three on April 15th, then they can commence kindergarten on April 15th, not before.
Children enrolling for a 4-year-old program must turn 4 by the 30 April of the year they attend.
Enrol for 2025 – Turn 4 on or before 30 April 2025
Enrol for 2026 – Turn 4 on or before 30 April 2026
Please note that is no longer possible to repeat 3 year old kindergarten. Plus 4 year old kindergarten can only be repeated in exceptional circumstances when the Early Childhood Teacher identifies 2 areas of development that require improvement before the child can transition to school.
Conditions of Enrolment
To enrol at Black Rock Pre-School, you need to confirm with previous childcare providers that they have not claimed the Kindergarten Funding in a preceding year, otherwise, this may jeopardise being able to offer your child a Free Kindergarten place at our Kindergarten.
